Here's my version of Rainbow Dash's mother If you see this mare you won't immediately think shes related to Dash, well that isn't that strange. Dash and Sunset are biiiig opposites.

I drew her pose without any examples, so her anatomy is kinda off :C Neck, ass and legs are to long and thick, oh well.

Sunset is a girly girl. She cares a lot about her looks and what others think about her. In her younger years she was known as the most beautiful pegasus around. This drew the attention from Lightning Blitz, a handsome pegasus stallion. Blitz soon became a famous aerial stunt performer with thousands of female fans, however he always staid loyal to his mate.

Sunset's cutie mark is a sunset with a cloud and a sun. Sunset loves looking at...sunsets, after a long day. All the pretty colors, it's her favorite time of the day.

Blitz and Sunset were both very young when she felt pregnant with Dash. When Dash was just a baby Blitz was almost killed while performing a dangerous stunt. Sunset feared for her mates life and wanted him to temporary quit so he had more time for his family. Blitz took a job at a snowflake factory, and since then never performed again. He became chubby and slow and worked many hours. When he came home he landed on his chair, watching television or reading the news paper. Untill that black day...

I loved the idea that RD's hair is a combination of her parent's hair, so I did that. She got red-orange-yellow from mom and purple-blue-green from dad. Dash inherited her father's coat but a lighter variant thanks to her mother. Sunset's eye shape is the same as the regular female pony's eyeshape (like RD, Applejack and Pinkie Pie's eyes), however Sunset looks in a more flirty way.

Sunset sometimes treated her filly as some kind of dress up doll, letting her wear dresses and lots of pink After a while Dash became rebellious, cutting her hair and doing stuff that weren't allowed by her parents. Dash thought her parents were just a couple of boring ponies, not knowing the reason behind her mothers's fears and about her fathers past.
